SALISBURY — Partners in Learning has lined up top talent, special-needs models, local sponsors and a venue for this year’s “Just As I Am” fashion show.

Trinity Oaks will host the fashion show on Sept. 22. It will feature more than a dozen young students with all donations going to the scholarship fund that assists families with special needs children.

“We have a very active committee working together being led by Teresa Dakins of Trinity at Home,” said Norma Honeycutt, executive director of Partners in Learning. “She and our other members have shared their professional networks, organizational skills and sweat equity for this event. We are looking forward to an inspiring and beautiful fashion show featuring many of the children that we serve.”

The show will be emceed by Doug Rice, who leads the Performance Radio Network-owned by Speedway Motorsports, a national radio network broadcasting more than 25 NASCAR races per season since 1981.

Rice lives in Salisbury with his family and is a graduate of West Rowan High School and Appalachian State University. Last year, he was inducted into the Salisbury-Rowan Hall of Fame and received the Horace Billings Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I had heard about this wonderful effort and was curious how I could assist in bringing its mission into the forefront of the Salisbury-Rowan community. We all have skills, and mine is with a microphone, I am thrilled to be a part of this event,” Rice said.

The fundraiser will be held at Trinity Oaks on Klumac Road in Salisbury from 2 to 4 p.m. The fashion show is in memory of alumni Jacob Usher, who passed away in 2015 at age 7.

Seats are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Seats are available by calling or visiting the website epartnersinlearning.org.
