CHINA GROVE – Department of Transportation contract crews will start replacing the aging Goldfish Road bridge over a tributary of Cold Water Creek next week, closing a portion of the roadway for work until after the New Year.

Work will start Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 9 a.m. The project, just south of Old Beatty Ford Road, will be complete by early January 2019.

The bridge was built in 1967 and based on state standards, was scheduled for replacement.

Drivers can detour around the work using Moose Road, Turkey Road, Lane Street and Old Salisbury-Concord Road in both directions.

The department encourages motorists to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
