SALISBURY — The Salisbury Police Department has identified a 35-year-old man who was seriously injured Tuesday in a vehicle accident on West Jake Alexander Boulevard.

Lester Cisel Carlos was struck by a pickup about 5 a.m. Tuesday near Woodleaf Lanes while walking in the middle of the road, police said. Carlos was wearing dark-colored clothing, police said.

He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where he remains.

Officers had to shut down Jake Alexander Boulevard the day of the accident while they investigated the crash.

Police had been trying to contact his nearest relatives before releasing his name and photo early Thursday. Officials had hoped that someone would recognize him in the photo.

Police officials said late Thursday that a relative has contacted the hospital.

Other relatives are asked to contact Officer Rebecca Sexton at 704-638-2092.
