Author Lutishia Lovely to speak at Friday brunch

SALISBURY — Livingstone College will celebrate women in history with a brunch Friday featuring author Lutishia Lovely, bestselling author of more than two dozen novels, including several which have been Romantic Times Booklovers Best Multi-Cultural Fiction finalists.
The brunch will be held in the William James Trent Gymnasium at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $30.
The brunch, held in memory of Katharine W. Osborne, celebrates the accomplishment of women throughout history, culture and society. The national theme for 2014 is “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.”
The theme describes Osborne — a distinguished woman who extended her generosity to Livingstone College and many other organizations throughout Rowan County.
Lovely has enjoyed many different careers, but they have all been linked to the “world of words.” Her upcoming work, “The Shady Sisters Trilogy” that begins with a suspense-filled page-turner, “The Perfect Affair,” is being considered for film adaptation. As an actress herself, this would bring Lovely’s career full circle.
When not writing contemporary fiction, she lends her muse to her EMMA and African-American Literary Award-winning alter-ego, “Zuri Day,” who writes steamy romances.
Lovely is a member of The Authors Guild, Romance Writers of America and a lifetime member of the NAACP. She lives in southern California.
The brunch is sponsored by Food Lion, KKA Architecture (Karen A. Alexander), Levonia M. Corry ’68, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Barbara S. Gaul ’62, Barbara J. Hosch ’69, Hazel S. Kennedy ’62, Willie Jean Kennedy ’67, Kay Wright Norman ’64, Stephanie Wright Norman, Earle L. Smith ’70, Dr. Lea Vickers, Susan M. Watson ’78 and Phyllis Mahmud (Zeta Phi Beta Sorority).
There will be a book signing immediately following the brunch. For more information, call Deborah F. Johnson at 704-216-6118.
