Rowan weather: Shiver me timbers!

Just keep the long johns close, because we are headed into a very cold week, with highs about 15 degrees below normal.

Today is just a taste of what’s to come. It will be sunny and 31, with northeast wind at 5-10 mph.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and very cold, with a low of 17.

We warm up a bit tomorrow to 40 with mostly sunny skies and west wind around 5 mph. Friday’s low will be 25, with mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday will be a bit warmer again, with partly sunny skies and a high of 45. Southwest wind will be at 5-9 mph in the morning.

Then the temperatures drop and they’ll stay low at least through Wednesday. We can expect a major cold wave to keep temperatures in the low 30s for several days, with nighttime lows in the teens.

Saturday’s low will be 20, and Sunday’s high will be just 32.

Sunday night, New Year’s Eve, will be frigid, with a low of 18, so wear lots of layers if you’re hanging out at the Bell Tower.

New Year’s Day will be sunny, but very cold, with a high of 33. The low will be dangerously cold, around 13. Check on neighbors, family and pets to make sure they can get warm.

Tuesday will be sunny and 32, with another awful low of 14.

Wednesday, we might see a little warming, with a high of 35 and mostly sunny skies.
