James Thomas Hill and Bonnie Carol Hutchins Hill of Gold Hill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 20, 2017. The couple and their daughter and son-in-law went fishing in Alaska in June of this year to celebrate and they also held a celebration in Asheville as well.

The Hills were united in marriage Dec. 20, 1967, at Liberty Methodist Church in Gold Hill by the Rev. Herbert-Jamison. James retired as a professional land surveyor after 35 years in the profession and is also a Vietnam Veteran of the 101st Airborne. Bonnie is a retired family nurse practioner and a 25 year owner of Rowan Prime Care.

The couple has one daughter, Cristy Hill Stiller, and their son-in-law, Mark Stiller.
