Elizabeth is back!
A Step in Time owners Joe Lancione and Tom Wolpert got a call early Monday morning from a friend saying that their giraffe was lying at the side of their building.
Elizabeth disappeared sometime Thursday night or Friday morning ó on Halloween.
The 12-foot-tall particle board creature has stood sentry in the corner outside of the shop on Easy Street for years.
“We dashed over without showering,” said Lancione, who called the Post just after 8. The store typically doesn’t open until 10 a.m.
The duo found Elizabeth in fine shape ó except for a few tattoos.
She has the name “Jeffery” written in crayon on her.
Hmm…
(It should be noted here that Geoffrey the Giraffe is the official Toys R Us mascot. Coincidence?)
Other than that, Elizabeth is in fine shape.
There was also a note with her. “Found your giraffe walking down the tracks. Please feed him more so he won’t run away again. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
“Inconvenience?!” Lancione spluttered. “You’re lucky you’re not dead. But she’s back. And we’re very happy.”
“She’s back in her place,” Wolpert added. “She has returned.”
Then Lancione and Wolpert went back home to take their showers.
