Taxpayers bear the tab while three await trial
I understand the backlog of the justice system and its delay in bringing Candice Drye, Jonathan Barnett and Christopher Boyd to court in the slaying of Dr. David Boyd. It is important that taxpayers remember that they are paying for their air-conditioned rooms at the jail, their meals, any medical care, and now we find out that none of them or their families can afford an attorney, so the taxpayers are paying for that, too.
To say that these three are a burden on society is an understatement. Have any of these three people ever contributed one positive thing in their lives to society or the community? It is interesting that Ms. Drye always seemed to have a ride to Dr. Boyd’s office, and at least one member of her family claims that they knew about the drugs and sex. Did Ms. Drye not have three children that she needed to care for on the night that she was purportedly drinking with the doctor and riding around in a pickup truck in the wee hours of the morning? Are the taxpayers also supporting her three children?
One wonders how many more people like those sitting in jail awaiting trial for the murder of Dr. Boyd are lurking around Salisbury or just a county away.

Danny Warren’s July 1 letter on the recent Harley-Davidson rally in Salisbury and the loss of Smoke Out was “on the money.”
I believe you are 100 percent right, and thanks for the letter.
Some of these commissioners have their own personal agenda, when they are supposed to be representing the people of Rowan County.
All of the people I have talked to say they were wrong to run Smoke Out away from the Rowan County fairgrounds.
The Hogs and biker rallies were back. One (Smoke Out) was in Davie County, and the other (the N.C. Harley Owners Group) was in Rowan. These people spent a lot of money, no thanks to our commissioners.
Come now. Let’s “retire” Commissioner Jim Sides ó enough of him. I am sure he is very tired of his duties as a commissioner. We now have the duty as voters to take him out of office.
Sides is not in touch with the people. We don’t need the kind of decisions he makes.
