Hood Theological Seminary will hold a special celebration Thursday at 6 p.m. in the newly constructed refectory. The event, titled “Celebrating Black History: Moving Our Feet Toward Unity and Community,” is the culmination of a month-long observance of Black History Month and will include singing, African drumming, Libation Ceremony, poetry, dance, a re-enacted sermon, and interactive discussion conducted by Dr. André Resner, professor of homiletics and church worship.
The 2014 Black History Planning Team is comprised of the Rev. Joshua Corbin, the Rev. James Dunbar, the Rev. Shirley Sims-Gray, Minister Karen L. Owens, the Rev. Chad Shoaf, and Resner.
This event is free and the public is invited. The program will begin at 7 p.m. following a reception at 6 p.m. Hood Theological Seminary, located at 1810 Lutheran Synod Drive, and sponsored by the AME Zion Church, is a graduate and professional school where intellectual discourse and ministerial preparation occur in tandem within the framework of a diverse community of faith.
