Blue Bears tied for third after first day of CIAA golf

GLEN ALLEN, Va. — Livingstone is tied for third place after the first day of the CIAA Golf Championship, here at The Crossings Golf Club on Thursday.

The Blue Bears shot a 325, tied with Chowan, but just three strokes behind leader Virginia Union (322).

Fayetteville State stands in second place after carding a 323.

Rounding out the field are Virginia State (359), J.C. Smith (362), Elizabeth City State (396) and St. Augustine’s (450).

Jordan Francis, Chowan senior from Boykins, Va., leads individually, scoring a 74. Also in the top five is the 2016 medalist, Phillip Harrison of Livingstone, who shot an 80.

The second and final round will be held today at the par-72, 6,674-yard course.
