EAST SPENCER — The town is hosting is a barbecue festival that organizers hope will be an annual event. The festival will be held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Royal Giants Park.

The free event is an initiative of Mayor Pro tem Curtis Cowan, who said, “it’s now time for East Spencer to preserve and celebrate our people, so what better way than a barbecue festival.”

There will be free barbecue sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs and more. There will also be a DJ, local performers and a 3-on-3 basketball game. Local vendors are welcome, organizers said.

Organizers say to bring a lawn chair to the park, 200 Robinson Road.
