Catawba placed four players on the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association College Division All-State baseball teams.
Catcher Will Albertson and second baseman Dylan Richardson were named to the first team.
First baseman Chance Bowden, a rising junior, and reliever Bryan Blanton, a rising junior, were named to the second team.
Blanton recorded nine saves on the season to rank second in the SAC.
Bowden set a school and conference record with 31 doubles and hit .324. He hit five home runs, drove in 47 runs and scored 50 times.

Minor leagues
KANNAPOLIS— Grant Massey singled twice, and Johnathan Frebis allowed three hits over six innings as the Kannapolis Intimidators beat the Hagerstown Suns 3-2 on Tuesday.
Frebis (6-7) picked up the win after he struck out six while allowing one run.
Kannapolis grabbed a 3-1 lead in the fifth after Cody Daily scored on a wild pitch and Max Dutto scored on a single.
Jack Charleston picked up his second save of the season.

Youth track
The Hurley YMCA Warriors Track and Field team competed in Charlotte in the AAU regional qualifier.
Top six finishers in running events and top five in field events qualified for the Junior Olympics in Houston , July 30- Aug. 6.

Local golf
The 38th annual Horace Billings Rowan County Amateur Championship will be held at Corbin Hills Golf Club, July 22-24.
Qualifying (18-hole stroke play) will be held July 15-17. Tournament participants must be residents of Rowan County or members of a golf club in the county.
The low 31 qualifiers and defending champion Nick Lyerly will advance to the championship match play on July 22.
In the event of a tie for the final qualifying sport or medalist honor, there will be sudden-death playoffs on Monday, July 18.
There will be a champions’ dinner on July 20 (7 p.m.). All of this year’s qualifiers and all former champions may attend.
Entry forms are available at Corbin Hills. The forms and the $25 entry fee are due by Wednesday, July 13, at 5 p.m.

Forty-one GARS members celebrated the Fourth of July with a Captain’s Choice tournament at Corbin Hills.
Three teams tied for first place with a minus-10.
The team of Tom Talbert, John Goodman, Andy Griffin and John Cress won the scorecard playoff for first place.
The team of Guy Schenck, Donald Martin, Gary Schenk, and Ron Ervin finished second.
The team of Phil Cauble, Ray Pope, Larry Luther, and Lou Manning finished third.
Closest to the pin on No. 2 was Schenk.
The longest putt on No. 9 was made by Griffin.

Malachi Hanes (Catawba) is batting .300 with 10 RBIs in 22 games for the Charlotte-based SBA Bones of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League.
Chance Bowden (Salisbury, Catawba) also plays for the SBA Bones. He’s batting .270 with a homer and seven RBIs in 21 games.
