Rowan weather: Heavy rain tonight

Looks like our heaviest rains will come tonight, with a 100 percent chance of showers and a stray thunderstorm.

For today, we’re starting with some drizzle, then rain is expected, followed by showers. The chance of rain is 60 percent. Cloudy skies will lead to another cool high of 62. Wind will pick up from the east northeast this morning at 5-8 mph. A tenth to a quarter inch of rain is expected.

Tonight’s rain will lead to patchy fog and a low of 58. A half to three-quarters inch of rain is possible.

Showers are likely Saturday, too, with thunderstorms possible after noon. It will still be cloudy, with a high of 73. Winds will become north in the afternoon at 5-7 mph. A tenth to a quarter inch additional rain is possible. The chance of rain is 60 percent.

Same story for Saturday night, although the chance of rain drops to 30 percent. Showers are likely, with thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. The low will be 55, with north northeast wind around 6 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, except higher in thunderstorms.

Sunday, too, has a 30 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening. It will be mostly sunny, with a high of 72 and north wind at 7-10 mph.

Sunday night and most of next week looks quiet. The low Sunday will be 53.

Monday will be sunny and warm, with a high of 76 and a low of 55.

Temperatures will climb steadily through the week, with the high Tuesday at 81, with sunny skies. The low will be 59.

The high for a mostly sunny Wednesday will be 84, with a low of 64.

Thursday will be partly sunny and 84 again.
