CHINA GROVE — With plans for a street festival this weekend, the town will partially close Main Street in downtown for several hours on Saturday.

A section of Main Street — from Church to Patterson streets — will be closed to northbound traffic starting at 2 p.m. Cars will be able to travel south on the section of Main Street as part of the town’s “Cruisin in the Grove” event.

The event will bring a number of cars and vendors to downtown China Grove from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will also involve a raffle drawing at 7 p.m.

Cars and other vehicles participating in the event will be parked along Main Street in downtown China Grove, said event planner Patti Price. The cars will start at Church Street’s intersection with Main Street and end at Centerview Street. Those interested in catching a glimpse of the cars without walking can drive down Main Street in a designated lane, Price said.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be sold in the China Grove Roller Mill parking lot. Barbecue and drinks will also be served along Main Street.

Alcohol will not be permitted at the “Cruisin in the Grove event,” she said.

Price said there will be music and vendors in Hannah Park, on Main Street.
