A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Innes Street and Avalon Drive. Salisbury Police have released the name of the victim as Claude Richard “Rick” Breedlove, 68, of Rockwell.

Breedlove was traveling east on Innes Street on his 2004 Yamaha when he was struck by a 2006 Buick heading west on East Innes Street.

The car was driven by Katherine Lyerly, 85, of Salisbury. Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said Lyerly was turning onto Avalon Drive when the two vehicles collided. Police will conclude their investigation after consulting with the Rowan County District Attorney about possible charges.

The crash, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. was previously incorrectly reported to have occurred at Jake Alexander Boulevard.
