Mayor Pro Tem Maggie Blackwell announced today she will seek another term on Salisbury City Council.

Blackwell, who earlier said she would not run again, issued a press release saying supporters convinced her to run for a fourth term.

“With Mayor Paul Woodson and Pete Kennedy stepping down, my supporters are concerned about a vacuum in leadership on City Council,” Blackwell said. “I’m running again because the needs of the city supersede my personal plans.

“I plan to continue to work for those citizens who have no voice in our community. I will work hard for a bright future for all the citizens of Salisbury. There is no doubt our best days are ahead of us.”

Edward Norvell will serve as Blackwell’s campaign treasurer.
