Rowan remains under a flash flood watch and a hazardous weather outlook.
The flash flood watch is in effect until midnight.
The National Weather Service predicts scattered thunderstorms today as unstable air builds across the warm sector of a front. Some storms may become severe with damaging winds and large hail being the man threats. An isolated tornado is possible.
A cold front will push through the area overnight, bringing more showers and thunderstorms which could become severe.
Rowan remains on the cool side of the front, which prevented the development of severe weather Tuesday and Tuesday night. Rain and some severe thunderstorms continue to our east, towards Greensboro and Raleigh, which are in the warm sector of the front.
According to the National Weather Service, the high today should be 77, but we never got above the low 60s Tuesday, though the predicted high was 81. Today’s high will depend on cloud cover and the 80 percent chance of rain. Winds should be from the south at 11-15 mph with gusts around 23. Up to an inch of new rain is possible.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms continue, especially between 9 p.m. and midnight. The low will be around 61, with up to an inch of rain.
Thursday starts off with showers and thunderstorms, but gradually clearing with a high near 75. Thursday night should be partly cloudy with a low around 49.
Friday, skies should be sunny with a high near 68; Friday night’s low will be around 48.
Saturday will be a bit warmer, mostly sunny with a high near 71 and a low around 49. Sunday should be even warmer, with a high near 78 and a low around 53.
Monday looks like a repeat of Sunday, and Tuesday, the temperature will rise to 79.
