Sorority sponsors 100th anniversary walk Saturday in Lexington

LEXINGTON ó The Omicron Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, based in Lexington, will participate in a walk Saturday commemorating the sorority’s founding 100 years ago.
In coordination with other Alpha Kappa Alpha chapters around the globe, local members will participate in this synchronized ESP 1908 Global Centennial Walk designed to raise awareness about the importance of fitness.
The approximately two-mile walk starts at 11 a.m. at the Davidson County Public Library, 602 S. Main Street, and also ends at the library.
More than 50,000 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, including those inU.S., Canada, Germany, Virgin Islands the Bahamas and the local group, will walk 1,908 steps.
