SALISBURY — The Rowan County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing for a proposed change of the East Rowan Fire Service District during its upcoming meeting on Monday.

The change would remove areas in southeastern Rowan County from the Richfield-Misenheimer service district and add them to the East Rowan district, which is serviced by East Gold Hill and Pooletown fire departments. The idea was brought forward by county and fire officials to help the two departments with revenues with the additional property tax revenues.

  • The commissioners will hold a naming ceremony for the renaming of the Rowan County justice center to the Kevin L. Auten Justice Center, in honor of the former sheriff.
  • The commissioners will hear a presentation from a representative of the local 4-H Teen Advisory Council, Lucas Weeder, about the 4-H experience.
  • The commissioners will award the contract for the renovation of the fire suppression sprinkler system in the West End Plaza to a contractor who submitted a bid.
  • The commissioners will receive a presentation from Phillip Steele of ADW Architects showing the interior renderings for the Rowan County Health Department renovations.
