Catawba College’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter showcased talent and dedication at the recent State Leadership Conference held last month, at the University Hilton in Charlotte. With a delegation of 10 members attending, the Catawba team earned accolades and distinctions across various categories.
Among the outstanding individual performances, Catawba College secured first-place victories in the public speaking category with Jeremy Post, business presentation with Emma Nantz, and foundations of communication competition with Lillie Martin, demonstrating exceptional communication skills and strategic acumen. Moreover, the team clinched third place in both the parliamentary procedure contest with Cason Gardner and the foundations of finance with Jeremy Post, showcasing their versatility and proficiency across diverse business domains.
One of the highlights of the conference was Catawba’s achievement of second place in the Central Region for the largest percentage of increase in its local chapter — a testament to its commitment to growth and excellence. Additionally, Catawba College FBLA surpassed state goals in scholarship, exceeded membership targets and significantly contributed to the FBLA-Collegiate Foundation, further solidifying their status as leaders in the FBLA community.
Catawba College’s FBLA chapter’s performance has allowed it to represent its institution and community on a national stage. These students will advance to the National Leadership Conference in Orlando in June, where they will compete against top FBLA chapters from across the country.
“We are immensely proud of our FBLA chapter’s accomplishments at the State Leadership Conference,” said Dr. Joanna Trammell, faculty advisor of Catawba College’s FBLA chapter. “Their dedication, hard work and exemplary performance are a true reflection of Catawba’s commitment to fostering leadership and excellence.”
Catawba’s FBLA chapter looks forward to the challenges and opportunities at the National Leadership Conference, where it will continue to exemplify the values of leadership, innovation and teamwork that define its organization.
