High school girls soccer: Hornets lose on road in first round of playoffs

EAST BEND — Salisbury’s girls soccer team lost 3-0 at Forbush on Monday night in the first round of the 2A state playoffs, bringing a quiet end to the season for Rowan County.

The 19th-seeded Hornets (11-5-3) got excellent play from Stella Koontz, Cora Wymbs and Lola Koontz.

Seeded 14th, Forbush (13-7-1) scored twice in a span of 35 seconds and never looked back.

The Falcons tacked on a third goal before the end of the first half to provide the final score.

Taylor Brown made the save on a penalty kick and recorded fifteen saves for the match.

East Davidson lost 7-0 to Community School of Davidson.
