SALISBURY — Teams from Rowan County’s Elevation Cheer Co. have been selected to compete at one of the nation’s most prestigious cheerleading competitions for small gyms, the D2 Summit, produced by Varsity All Star.

Held at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports on May 12-14, the D2 Summit is the season-capping goal for many competitive all-star cheerleading teams. This year, all eligible teams at Elevation Cheer Co. earned a bid and will be competing at the D2 Summit amongst nearly 500 of the best teams from across the United States.

Lauren Dendy, co-owner and coach at Elevation Cheer, said, “We find it such a privilege to have received a bid to compete at one of the most prestigious events of the season. Our athletes, families and staff are really looking forward to this event, competing with the best of the best and making memories that will last a lifetime.”

An Elevation Cheer team has attended the event every year since it first started in 2015. There have been numerous years where teams have advanced to finals and finished in the top 10 of their division.

“We are excited to go back to the D2 Summit this season with our teams,” Elevation co-owner and cheer coach Sara Biles said. “The D2 Summit is such a great way for our athletes to end their season. They dedicate so much of their time and work so hard throughout the season. Attending an end-of-season event like the D2 Summit, where we compete with the best teams across the nation, is such an amazing experience and creates great memories for the athletes.”
