High school girls soccer: Carson, West get county wins as season winds down

Carson’s girls soccer team edged West Rowan 2-1 for a Senior Night win on Tuesday.

Haylee Feehan and Caylee Miracco scored for the Cougars (3-16-1, 3-12) in the South Piedmont Conference match.

“Against all odds, playing with only 10 players on the field (nine at times), Carson won a barn burner,” Carson coach Lauren West said.

West Rowan beat East Rowan 5-1 in SPC action on Monday.

Olyvia Brown scored two goals for the Falcons (6-12, 5-11) and added an assist.

Olivia Collins and Jisel Suarez scored goals and had assists for West.

Melissa Mehmedovic scored a goal. Tempe Jones had two assists.

Kailin Bomely scored for the Mustangs (7-16, 4-12). Lillian Jeffers had the assist.

West credited Johanna Russell with five saves, while East’s Daisy Berry had 16.

South Rowan went 9-9 and 8-8 in the SPC and is 33rd in the 3A West rankings.

West is 39th, with East 43rd and Carson 48th.
