CLEVELAND — The motorist killed in a vehicular crash on Amity Hill Road in Cleveland on Thursday was identified by North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Marcus Larone Renwrick, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision that occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m.

The driver of the other vehicle, 25-year-old Ashleigh Lynn Clements, is facing charges for driving left of center and misdemeanor death by vehicle.

On Friday, Lt. Ned Moultrie, a public information officer for the NCSHP, confirmed the identities of both parties in the collision.

Moultrie also provided a narrative of the events that preceded the collision as determined by the investigating officer.

A Kia passenger vehicle, operated by Clements, was traveling south when the vehicle reportedly traveled left of the center line and collided with a Saturn passenger vehicle, being driven by Renwrick.

Renwrick was fatally wounded and died at the scene.

Clements was reportedly transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem with non-life-threatening injuries.

The wreck occurred in the 2500 block of Amity Hill Road between Cal Kennedy Road and Versailles Road when the two vehicles collided going around a sharp turn.

Bob Houston lives in a residence by the turn and was one of the first people to see the aftermath of the wreck. Houston said it’s not the first time that he has seen a severe wreck take place on the curve by his house. According to Houston, drivers have failed to navigate the sharp curve and ended up in his yard before. Other times collisions have occurred.
