High school softball roundup: Raiders roll against Carson; Falcons demolish NWC; Mustangs rout Concord

LANDIS — Danica Krieg drove in four runs to back the strong pitching of Eva Shue, and South Rowan romped 11-1 against Carson on Tuesday.

Shue held Carson to three hits and struck out seven.

The Raiders (8-8-1, 7-6) finished a season sweep of the Cougars (3-14, 2-10).

Shue had two hits and two RBIs.

South had 13 hits. Leisha Carter, Kynlee Dextraze, Carmen Thomas and Avery Fisher had two each.

South is 31st in the 3A West RPI rankings, with 32 teams making the  state playoffs.

CONCORD — West Rowan scored 10 runs in the first inning and crushed Northwest Cabarrus 17-0 in Tuesday SPC action.

Reese Poole homered, doubled and drove in four runs for the Falcons (12-6, 8-3).

Emma Clarke was 4-for-4, scored three and drove in three.

Ella Doby had two hits and three RBIs.

EA Nance had a double and three RBIs.

Lucy McLean Shelton had a double.

Arabelle Sulenberger allowed three hits and struck out three in the five-inning contest.

Northwest is 8-6 and 7-6 in the SPC.

West is 10th in the 3A West RPI rankings, while the Trojans are 27th.

CONCORD — Kori Miller homered as East Rowan crushed Concord 18-0 in a three-inning SPC game on Tuesday.

Ten players scored for East (14-2, 14-0), which clinched a tie for first. It’s the first league championship for East since 2013.

Camryn Perkins, Elemi Miller and Kaley Pfister pitched for the Mustangs.

Peighton Porter had the only hit for the Spiders (4-14, 1-11).

Central Cabarrus got four hits from Emma Salter and four RBIs from Chloe Phillips in a 12-2 win against Robinson on Tuesday.

Central (13-5, 11-2) is in second place behind East Rowan.
