Salisbury man dead after being struck by vehicle Thursday morning

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man is dead after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the road early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Jake Alexander Boulevard West at approximately 4:30 a.m. in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian, according to a release from the Salisbury Police Department.

When they arrived, they reportedly found 42-year-old David Michael House lying in the road. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but House was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the release.

House appeared to be attempting to cross Jake Alexander Boulevard in front of the J.F. Hurley YMCA when he was hit by a vehicle driving by, said Major Justin Crews, a spokesperson for the department.

“The Salisbury Police Department would like to extend our prayers to the House family,” said the department in the release.
