Staff report

Central Cabarrus’ relentless guards Chase Daniel and Carson Daniel, twins known as the Daniel Duo, shared South Piedmont Conference Player of the Year honors.

That was fitting. The Catawba recruits led Central Cabarrus to the 3A state championship on Saturday and a second straight undefeated season.

Central coach Jim Baker, a graduate of North Rowan and Catawba College, was named SPC Coach of the Year.

All-conference voting normally takes place immediately after the regular season.

Only three players from Rowan schools made All-SPC in a league that was dominated by Central and had four other good Cabarrus squads.

Carson freshmen CP Perry and Jacob Mills were honored as well as West Rowan senior Will Givens.
