At least one motorist killed in Friday morning crash

SALISBURY — At least one occupant died in a single-vehicle wreck on Airport Road near the intersection of Cedar Springs Road at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday.

There were four people inside the vehicle that appeared to have lost control of the roadway before coming to a rest at the bottom of a steep embankment. The vehicle was traveling east when the crash occurred.

Another motorist who reportedly observed the wreck contacted 911.

The cause of the crash was not readily available on site and the N.C. State Highway Patrol is currently investigating. The extent of the injuries to the remaining occupants was not publicized on site either.

Airport Road was reopened to through traffic at approximately 1:15 p.m.
