Blotter for March 7: police investigating after altercation ends with shot fired

SALISBURY — Police are investigating after an altercation ended with a gun being fired into the air on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday in the 600 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard. Two vehicles pulled up side by side and the occupants became involved in a verbal altercation, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department said.

The altercation ended when the occupants of one of the vehicles, a white Honda Accord, took out a firearm and fired it into the air, the spokesperson said.

Police have the Accord’s tag number and are investigating the incident. The spokesperson noted that no shell casings were found at the location, but that it could have fallen into the vehicle.

In Salisbury Police Department reports:

  • Property damage occurred in the 500 block of Willow Road at 5 p.m. on March 4. It was reported on March 5.
  • A larceny occurred in the 500 block of North Shaver Street at 9 a.m. on March 5. The total estimated loss was $600.
  • Property damage occurred in the 900 block of South Fulton Street between 5 p.m. on March 4 and 9 a.m. on March 5.
  • Shoplifting occurred in the 2200 block of Statesville Boulevard at 11:58 a.m. on March 5. The total estimated loss was $7.
  • A larceny occurred in the 1200 block of Red River Drive between 5 p.m. on March 4 and 7:30 a.m. on March 5. The total estimated loss was $600.
  • A larceny occurred in the 600 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard at 5:05 p.m. on March 5. The total estimated loss was $20.
  • Shoplifting occurred in the 1900 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard at 7:10 p.m. on March 5. The total estimated loss was $2.14.
  • Jacob Brandon Peterson, 31, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon on March 5.
  • Christopher May Riddle, 46, was charged with larceny on March 5.

In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

  • A theft of a motor vehicle occurred at Weaver Road between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on March 4.
  • A burglary occurred at Hollywood Drive between 10 a.m. on Feb. 29 and 10 a.m. on March 1. It was reported on March 4.
  • A larceny occurred at Weaver Road between midnight and 1 p.m. on March 4.
  • Frederick Rodrigues Taylor, 46, was charged with restricting, obstructing or delaying an officer on March 4.
  • Makenzie Annette Stephens, 28, was charged with child abuse and failure to secure a passenger under 16 on March 4.
  • Evita C. Williams, 30, was charged with open burning of solid waste on March 4.
  • Theresa Dawn Jordan, 54, was charged with aiding and abetting larceny and conspiracy on March 4.
  • Elicia Breanna Head, 29, was charged with two counts possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of probation violation on March 4.
  • Clevo Odell Shuff, 19, was charged with a probation violation on March 4.
