Salisbury man arrested in Tennessee during thwarted armed robbery

BRISTOL, Tenn. — A man from Salisbury was arrested in Bristol, Tennessee, after allegedly attempting an armed robbery on Monday. An off-duty corrections officer held him at gunpoint until Bristol Police officers arrived.

Brandon Scott Lowe, 28, from Salisbury is charged with aggravated robbery for his alleged role in the incident.

According to information from the Bristol Police Department, officers responded to a Scotchman convenience store in the 2900 block of West State Street at approximately 6:13 a.m. in reference to an armed robbery.

The BPD’s report stated, “Prior to the officers’ arrival, a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer had stopped at the gas station before heading into work while the robbery was occurring.

The officer reportedly held Lowe at gunpoint while employees assisted in handcuffing him.

Lowe was arrested and transported to the Sullivan County Detention Center. In addition to aggravated robbery, he is charged with criminal impersonation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Additionally, the Bristol Tennessee Police Department issued a statement of gratitude to the corrections officer for the vital role they played in this case.
