SPENCER — During the most recent Spencer Board of Aldermen meeting, the victors from November’s election were sworn in after being administered the oaths of office.

Rowan County Clerk of Court Todd Wyrick administered the oath of office to the six aldermen on Dec. 12 at Town Hall. Several of the aldermen took their oaths with family members by their side.

Mayor Pro Tem Patti Seacrest was joined by her grandsons, Wesley Isenhour and Rylan Furr, as she took her oath. Alongside Steve Miller was his wife Linda. Meanwhile, Rashid Muhammad’s fiancé Rhonda stood by him.

Aldermen Andrew Howe, Erin Moody and Pat Sledge also took their oaths.

The six aldermen who were elected last month ran for six open seats. Seacrest was the top vote getter.

After the newly sworn Board was seated, Board Members offered tributes to outgoing Alderman Sam Morgan.

Incumbent Mayor Jonathan Williams was not able to attend the meeting due to travel for work. However, he took his oath of office previously on December 7.

Williams defeated challenger Tom Strini in his bid for reelection last month.
