Catawba quarterback Ken Avent III accounted for three rushing touchdowns in a 28-21 loss to Newberry in Saturday’s season opener.
Catawba had all the momentum in the world at that point, but could only move from the Catawba 13 to the Catawba 42 when it got the ball back with 9:45 left and had chance to grab its first lead.
Catawba plays at Wingate next Saturday.
