UPDATE: Suspect sought after janitor was shot at Bendix Drive hotel

SALISBURY — A janitor at Days Inn in Salisbury was shot in the leg Saturday morning during an incident at the hotel and police have named a suspect who is being sought.

A news release from police said the 71-year-old victim is being treated at Rowan Medical Center and is in good condition.

Police are looking for Ramon Everett Torrence, 43,  and warrants have been issued for his arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon and violation of a court order. The shooting occurred due to a domestic violence situation and the person injured was an innocent bystander working at the hotel.

The Days Inn hotel is located at 321 Bendix Drive in Salisbury. The hotel is located near East Innes Street’s interchange with Interstate 85.
