SALISBURY – A 12-year-old boy was taken into custody after being observed inside a home on Corriher Ave. early Friday morning.

Salisbury Police spokesman Lt. Lee Walker said the first officer was dispatched for a breaking and entering and saw the boy holding a rifle, which was later found to be a BB gun.

More officers were called to the scene and surrounded the home. The boy exited the house and complied with an order to drop the gun before being taken into custody.

There was no damage other than an open window with some screening cut to enter. Nothing was taken from the home.

The boy was released to his mother and the Department of Social Services was notified and the officers are seeking a juvenile petition.
