SALISBURY — Two people have been identified following fatal, two-vehicle, head-on collision on Woodleaf Road near N.C. 801.

The incident occurred Wednesday and both drivers were killed.

Pricilia Martinez-Ponce, 18, of Booneville, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic, traveling east on Woodleaf Road, when she crossed the double yellow line. She was entering a slight bend in the roadway and struck a 2008 Lexus driven by Bryant Dwayne Barnett, 33, of Salisbury, according to Sgt. D.M. Morgan.

Both vehicles came to rest near the area of impact. Both drivers were trapped and pronounced deceased by medical staff on the scene. A passenger in the Lexus, Nycieko Dixon, 24, of Salisbury, was injured. Dixon was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Morgan said alcohol and speed are not contributing factors in the collision. He said the collision is still under investigation. No charges will be filed, as both drivers are deceased.

Woodleaf Road was closed to regular traffic for hours and open just for emergency personnel.
