SALISBURY — Salisbury Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday in the Jersey City neighborhood in which a man was seriously injured.

Jateare V. McNeal, 27, was shot at the corner of West Cemetery and North Caldwell streets. McNeal was taken to a local hospital where he’s listed in serious condition, according to Salisbury Police Chief Jerry Stokes.

McNeal was shot once while at the corner and went into Jersey City Store, across the street, for help. Stokes said Thursday afternoon no arrest had been. The shooting occurred just before 4 p.m.

Police investigators remained at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing people. No other details were immediately available.
