LANDIS — Police say they need the public’s help to locate a Landis teen who has been missing since late Sunday night.

Interim Police Chief Kevin Young said Kaylee Leitch, 13, had been at her home in the 600 block of East Ryder Avenue around 11:30 p.m. According to her father, Kaylee had taken a shower and went into her bedroom. He assumed she’d gone to bed, Young said.

Young said investigators believe Kaylee has run away with someone.

“She has done this in the past,” Young said.

He said it’s unknown who Kaylee would’ve met and what clothing she was wearing at the time of her disappearance. She does not have a cellphone and no known medical conditions.

“We don’t think she’s in any kind of danger,” Young said.

There had also not been any family conflicts, the chief said.

Investigators have checked a Rockwell home where a friend was believed to have been living as well as her grandmother’s Landis home.

“We don’t any reason to believe she’s there,” Young said.

Kaylee is 5-feet, 5-inches tall, about 130 pounds, has straight, long blonde hair and blue eyes. She does not wear eyeglasses, Young said.

Anyone with information about Kaylee’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Landis Police Department at 704-857-2129 or the Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.

Spencer police were also looking for a missing girl, 12-year-old Aaliyah Lachae Smith, who had been missing since March 25. Her family had reported her missing on March 31. Spencer police said she was located late Wednesday.
