Child suffers life-threatening injuries in Kannapolis drive-by shooting

KANNAPOLIS — A 3-year-old child suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday in a drive-by shooting that occurred at 900 Buick Avenue.

Kannapolis Police were called to a house on Buick Avenue at about 6:40 p.m. after receiving a drive-by shooting report. The injured child was taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The parents were at home but not injured.

Police only said Tuesday night that they were looking for a dark-colored sedan that was seen traveling down Ford Street in the direction of Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. The suspect or suspects shot into the Buick Avenue home while driving by, police said.

No additional information was released Tuesday night because the investigation is ongoing.
