SALISBURY — A Salisbury man faces felony assault charges after a 29-year-old woman was found beaten and bloodied.

The Salisbury Police Department charged Terry Isaac Brown Jr., 36, of the 700 block of South Ellis Street, with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and misdemeanor assault on a female. He remains in the Rowan County jail under no bond because of the domestic-related nature of the offense.

The victim was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for her injuries.

A woman called 911 on Friday to say a woman she knew was at her home with a black eye and other facial injuries. When police arrived, the victim’s eye was swollen shut, she was bleeding from her nose and mouth. Brown was identified as the suspect, said police Detective Russ DeSantis.

Police drove to the Mirror Park Drive home where they believed Brown to be located. When they arrived, a man was sitting on the front porch of the home and went inside when officers approached. The officer noted blood was found on the front door, DeSantis said.

The officer knocked on the door and was met by a woman who said Brown was not there, DeSantis said.

Another officer went to the back of the home and found Brown on a back porch. He appeared intoxicated and told the officer he remembered getting into an argument but didn’t know what happened after that, DeSantis said.

Brown has convictions of assault on a female, simple assault, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, larceny of a motor vehicle, and driving while impaired, and felony possession with intent to sell Schedule VI substance.
