GOLD HILL — A Rowan County woman was given a citation for simple marijuana possession after she reported her daughter missing. The daughter was quickly located in Rockwell, said Rowan Sheriff’s Office Capt. John Sifford.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office cited Cherry Wingler Fink, 61, with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule VI while in the 14100 block of U.S. 52, Gold Hill. She called for assistance on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. She told the deputy her daughter ran away.

A deputy found the girl a few miles away in Rockwell. The daughter was at some point in a vehicle and got out. A deputy approached Fink in a Kia Rio to speak with her and smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The deputy asked Fink if there was anything in the vehicle and she said there should not be anything in the car.

She admitted a friend had smoked marijuana in the car. She then handed over a bag of marijuana containing 4.5 grams.
