CHARLOTTE — Senior Hunter Shepherd stayed amazingly hot as Catawba’s baseball team won 11-3 at Queens on Friday.

Catawba (13-2) pounded out 16 hits and has won 13 in a row.

Shepherd went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. He belted his seventh homer. He’s batting .456 with 19 RBIs.

Cam Morrison hit his third homer and had two RBIs.

It was a 3-all game until the top of the sixth when Catawba finally took charge. Jackson Raper had the tie-breaking hit.

Lee Poteat also has been hot and had three more hits. Jeremy Simpson had two hits and three RBIs.Luke Spiva had two hits. Raper had two hits.

Queens scored three unearned runs against Catawba starter Greg Brown, who lasted into the fifth. Brown lowered his ERA to 0.68.

Sawyer Strickland (2-0) took over from there, struck out eight and got the win.

The teams play an early doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
