High school basketball: A.L. Brown boys will be tough

Don’t forget to give credit to Teven Jones, former player from the University of Virginia. Teven has trained those boys last years and did so again this year. Of course, he trained them during the off season and those boys are dedicated to the training that Teven has given them.

My granddaughter Layla Ward has been going there for two years. She loves it. It’s an amazing fun, safe loving place. I don’t have to worry about her when she is there. Everyone is so amazing that works there.

— Maggie Blackwell

I count myself lucky to have worked with Mark at the Post.

He was a great colleague, a wonderful storyteller and a funny guy who gave me a nickname in a column he once wrote: Katie (Take Your Vitamin C to Avoid) Scarvey.

— Katie Scarvey

Mark is an amazing man who makes the story and the people appear in your living room.

He has a special way with people and their stories.

Kannapolis City Schools apologizes for assignment …

The Three-Fifths Compromise solution was to count three out of every five slaves as people for this purpose. Its effect was to give the southern states a third more seats in Congress and a third more electoral votes than if slaves had been ignored, but fewer than if slaves and free people had been counted equally.
