VA seeking entries for veterans arts festival

SALISBURY – The Salisbury VA Medical Center (VAMC) is now taking submissions for the local level of competition for the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival. Winners in the art competition will be announced Feb. 8, 2020, during a showing in the Building 6 Social Room at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Veterans who use the Salisbury VAMC are encouraged to enter the competition. Applications are available through the Recreation Therapy office located in Building 6. The deadline for submission is 4 p.m. on Friday Jan. 24, 2020. No entries will be accepted on the day of the competition.
The National Veterans Creative Arts competition is an annual event that provides veterans who receive inpatient and/or outpatient treatment at VA facilities the opportunity to participate in creative self-expression as part of their therapy, and to gain recognition for their artistic accomplishments.
Categories include: art division, creative writing, dance division, drama division and music division. All divisions will be judged. First place winners will advance to the national level, where they will compete with entries submitted by veterans from other VA facilities around the country for potential advancement to the national finals.
The arts competition is sponsored by the Salisbury VAMC Recreation Therapy Department, Voluntary Services and the American Legion Auxiliary of North Carolina.
