College football: SAC teams in D-II playoffs

 ROCK HILL, S.C.   – The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, the Wingate Bulldogs, and the Carson-Newman Eagles will represent the South Atlantic Conference in the NCAA Division II Football Championship, the NCAA announced today.

Lenoir-Rhyne will be the No. 2 seed in Super Region 2, while Wingate will be the No. 4 seed and Carson-Newman is the No. 6 seed.

The No. 6 Bears will host the No. 7 seed Miles in the first round on Nov. 23 in Hickory, N.C. The No. 17 Bulldogs will play host to the No. 5 seed West Florida and Carson-Newman will travel to No. 3 seed Bowie State. Games times will be announced at a later date.

Lenoir-Rhyne finished the regular season with a record of 11-0, capturing their second consecutive SAC Football Championship, while Wingate closed out the season with a record of 10-1 overall. Carson-Newman enters the playoffs with a record of 8-2.

The championship game will be played December 21, at 3 p.m. Eastern time at McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas and will be broadcast live on ESPNU HD/ESPN3.com.
