Letter: Parents, teachers, retirees should oppose Knox proposal

As a retired Rowan-Salisbury Schools educator who spent many happy years at Knox Middle School, a Salisbury resident and parent/volunteer/educator at awesome Overton Elementary, I must strongly urge the Board of Education to reconsider the current Band-Aid proposal for Knox.

The $26 million renovation, or “lipstick on a pig,” is an absurd idea when there’s useable land between the two schools, meaning no dispersing or relocation of students and a continuation of academic programs.

Please, parents, teachers and retirees of Knox and Overton, go to the school board meeting on Nov. 18 and voice your opposition. Let’s revisit LS3P Architects plan for a K-8 school now.
