SALISBURY — The Holiday (November-December) issue of Salisbury the Magazine, a publication of the Salisbury Post, has reached subscribers and is available at locations throughout Rowan County.

This 39th edition also can be picked up at the Post, 131 W. Innes St.

The cover features holiday decorations from the Salisbury home of Dr. Myron and Mary Goodman, who fill their home with sentimental treasures over the Christmas season.

Other features include a visit with Phyllis Patterson at Patterson Farm, who has been growing poinsettias for holiday sales since 1977; the Salisbury Swing Band, which once again will perform its “Swing Into Christmas” concert at the Salisbury Civic Center; and Carr Garner’s enthusiasm for do-it-yourself outside Christmas orbs that continue to grow each year in neighborhood popularity.

Contributing writer Susan Shinn Turner details the sprawling biennial family reunion and activities at George and Margaret Kluttz’s home over the Thanksgiving break.

Turner also profiles Salisbury businessman Hap Roberts, whose memoir, “Everybody Was Happy,” is set to debut in late November.

Deirdre Parker Smith breaks bread with the young couple who are the new owners of Pinocchio’s restaurant in Spencer. Smith also provides some reading recommendations in Bookish.

Shavonne Walker interviews the husband-wife Salvation Army team of Karl and Janice Dahlin, who are this issue’s Rowan Originals and are ready to ring the bell at Christmas.

Look for the photography of Jon C. Lakey and Wayne Hinshaw throughout this edition, and Lakey also provides the Through the Lens photo.

Local artist Marshall Stokes provides the work for Salisbury’s the Place. Also look for a November-December calendar and Scene photos from the Dunbar Mass Reunion Parade in East Spencer, the Community Care Clinic’s open house, Novant Health Rowan’s patrons ball and the “‘Bury Home Companion” show.
