Eastern Cabarrus Historical Society and Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library plan a Writers Workshop Sunday, 2:30 p.m., at ECHS Society Hall, 1145 N. College St., Mount Pleasant.

This will be an open mike discussion of Vincent James Vezza on how to embed historical events into your story.

Registration is required by calling 704-436-6612; $5 covers the cost of materials.

Author Richard Jackson will discuss his book, “North Carolina Murder and Mayhem” on Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m. Signed copies of the book will be available to purchase for $20, cash or check.

High Point Public Library will host its annual local author showcase Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., first floor  901 N. Main St.

It will feature authors from various genres who will talk about and show their published works.

10 a.m.: Poetry writing workshop;

11 a.m.: Art of writing workshop;

Noon — Write- In, quiet space for you to work.

1 p.m. – Sisters Connected book discussion of “In West Mills” by De’Shawn Charles Winslow.
