Area Sports: West, South volleyball get 20th wins; CCC wins for Salisbury, South soccer

Undefeated Salisbury (12-0) will open the 2A dual team tennis state playoffs at home on Wednesday against Burns (7-3).
Oak Grove and North Davidson also made the playoffs from the Central Carolina Conference.
Carson and North Iredell represent the North Piedmont Conference in the 3A playoffs.
HS girls golf
East Rowan’s girls are the favorite for today’s Rowan County Championships at McCanless.
East has won the last two team titles since Carson’s surprise victory in 2016.
Carson’s Sophia Brown won the North Piedmont Conference championship and is the individual favorite for the county event.
HS boys soccer
West Rowan went to overtime before losing to Statesville 2-1 on Monday in North Piedmont Conference soccer.
Johnny Alvarez scored for the Falcons. Joseph Turcios had the assist. Chris Mercado made 15 saves.

Salisbury improved to 12-5 overall and 9-4 in the Central Carolina Conference with a 6-0 win over Central Davidson on Monday.
Scoring for the Hornets: Josh Portillo (2 goals), Juan Salazar, Will Webb, Brayan Avilez and Axel Alejo.
Assists were credited to Salazar (3), Josh Portillo, and Juan Silva.
Alejo’s goal was his first of the season.
The victory sets up a key match Wednesday night vs. Oak Grove. The Grizzlies defeated SHS 1-0 earlier in the season.

Parker Anderson had 13 saves as South Rowan beat Oak Grove 2-1 in CCC soccer on Monday.
Eber Tapia and Daniel Trejo scored for South.
Logan Carter had an assist.
HS volleyball
West Rowan stayed unbeaten on Monday by beating Mooresville 25-14, 25-17 and 25-16.
Tori Hester had nine kills and 10 digs. Carly Stiller had seven kills, Kelcie Love had six kills. Emma Gusler had five kills. Emma Gaeta had three kills.
Brooke Kennerly had eight digs. Kenadi Sproul had five digs. Madelyn VonCanon had six digs. Noe Gaeta had 34 assists.
West Rowan (20-0, 8-0) plays Carson at home tonight and can clinch the North Piedmont Conference title.

South Rowan (20-1) won 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18 against Mount Pleasant for its 17th straight victory.
Anna Rymer had 17 assists, nine kills and seven digs. Kira Rymer had 24 kills, eight digs and 12 assists. Cameron Black had five kills and seven digs. Payton Black had 23 digs. Ashlyn Faw had five digs.

Emma Owens had 15 assists and eight digs to lead South Rowan’s jayvees to a 25-18 and 25-19 win against Mount Pleasant. Kali Nelson had seven kills and seven digs. Ava Huffman had eight kills, McKinley Faw had nine digs. Bailey Fisher had six digs.
North Hills
The North Hills Christian middle school volleyball team (11-1, 6-0) won the SPAA conference championship. Talita McCain and Jill Jones coached the team.
North Hills Christian School Middle School Volleyball team finished their season last night as SPAA Conference Champions. The girls worked hard all season and were 6-0 conference and 11-1 overall.
