Charter school gets 600 books from Newcomers Club

On Sept. 23, members of the Salisbury-Rowan Newcomers Club delivered 600 books to Essie Mae Kiser Foxx Charter School in East Spencer.
The members said they received a warm welcome from the staff and students. They also met with Principal James Fisher, students in Ms. DeCarlo’s second-grade class, Whitney Peckman, Kenneth Muhamma, and Syed Ahmad.
Newcomers members who went to the school were Kit Davis, Marilyn King, Jim and Kerry Morgan, Eileen Solomon, MT Sidoli and Kim Hoyt.
In June, a club member challenged fellow members of the Newcomers Club to donate 100 children’s books, and that member would donate 100 additional books. The books were to be provided so students could have books in their homes. Members of the Newcomers Club and others helped collect 600 books.
