Landis candidate forum scheduled Thursday night

LANDIS — Candidates for Landis mayor and alderman will have face-time with voters Thursday night at a forum at Corriher-Lipe Middle School.
The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Salisbury Post, will sponsor the forum at 6 p.m. Post Editor Josh Bergeron will moderate. Karla Foster will be the timekeeper ,and Gay and David Roberts will greet those in attendance.
Mayoral candidates who have said they will participate include Meredith Smith, Mark Connell and Dorland Abernathy. Alderman candidates who have said they will participate include Katie Sells and Ashley Stewart.
Mayoral candidate Bobby Brown and alderman candidate Darrell Overcash have said they will not attend.
Candidates who have not responded to invitations include Alby Stamey, who filed to run for mayor, and Buddy Porter, who filed to run for alderman.
Alderman candidates will go first at the forum, with mayoral candidates to follow.
Candidates will have 90 seconds for opening statements, one minute per answer and 90 seconds for closing statements.
